Set up your shipping rates as a seller

Modified on Thu, 6 Nov at 5:27 PM

To set up your shipping rates and destinations, click on your profile name in the top right corner of the page and select "Edit Profile."

In the menu on the left, select "Market," then scroll down to Shipping costs and click on "Edit shipping destinationsand rates." This will open the Shipping Editor.

View of the Shipping Editor where sellers can select countries, set rates, and apply shipping costs for multiple destinations before saving their settings.

Using the Shipping Editor

In the Shipping Editor, you can choose the countries you want to ship to and set the shipping rates for each destination.
The rates you enter will be paid by the buyer when they place an order.

On the left side, you will see a list of continents. Click the arrow next to a continent to view the countries in that region.

You can tick the boxes for individual countries or tick the box next to the continent name to select all countries in that region.

  • For each selected country, enter your shipping rate.

  • If the rates are the same for several countries, you can fill in the rate once in the main window and click Apply to apply it to all selected countries.

  • When rates vary, you can fill in the boxes for each country separately.

Each country shows the number of active Whiskybase members, which helps you decide which destinations are most relevant for your sales.

After entering your shipping rates, click "Save." You can always adjust your rates later if needed.

Tip: Selections will only be saved if you have entered a shipping rate for that country. Make sure all selected countries have rates filled in before saving.

Which countries should I choose?

Only select countries where you are legally allowed to ship whisky.
Most major couriers such as DHL, PostNL, TNT, DPD, and UPS can deliver to many international destinations.

However, consider whether it is worth including countries with very high shipping costs, as it may make your offers less attractive to buyers.

Important restrictions:

  • Russia, Ukraine, and Canada do not allow the import of alcoholic drinks by mail. Parcels sent to these countries will usually be returned and are often not insured.

  • Taiwan allows whisky imports, but there is a maximum of 5 liters per address per day.

Keep your shipping realistic

Your shipping rates must be fair and reflect real courier costs.

It is not allowed to increase shipping rates to make additional profit on your bottle sales.
Accurate and transparent shipping rates help maintain trust and fairness within the Whiskybase community.
