Is the bottle that I purchased in good condition?

Before buying, make sure that you are well informed about the condition of the bottle and its packaging.

Do not automatically rely on the seller’s description. Take a moment to read the feedback other buyers have left about this seller, as it often mentions how accurately they describe a bottle’s condition.

If you are unsure about something, feel free to ask the seller directly before completing your purchase. Sellers should be able to provide you more detailed information about their bottle offers.

The fill level of the bottle is shown on the whisky’s detail page in the Marketplace.
We use the following indicators to describe fill levels:

  • In neck: Excellent fill, minimal evaporation.
  • Base of neck: Very good fill, slight natural evaporation.
  • Top shoulder: Excellent fill, close to the original level.
  • Mid shoulder: Slightly lower level, common in older bottles.
  • Low shoulder: Noticeably lower fill, which may affect the whisky’s value.

The following illustration shows the standard whisky bottle fill levels. From highest to lowest: In neck, Base of neck, Top shoulder, Mid shoulder, and Low shoulder. These indicators help buyers understand how much whisky has evaporated over time and assess the bottle’s condition before purchase.

If the bottle is marked as top, mid, or low shoulder, there should be a clear photo showing this.
If there is not, you can always ask the seller to provide one.

Once you receive your bottle, take a close look to make sure everything matches the description and photos.

If you are happy with your purchase, change the order status to "Received and Accepted" so the seller can receive payment.

If something is not right, you can first contact the seller for an explanation or refuse the bottle by changing the order status to "Received but Cancelled". In this case, you must return the bottle to the seller at your own expense.

You can read more about returns and cancelations here.
