Proper packaging is essential to make sure your bottle arrives safely and in perfect condition. Follow these simple steps to protect your bottle and avoid shipping issues.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

1. Packaging

Make sure your bottle or bottles are packed securely.

  • Use bubble wrap and foam flakes for cushioning.
  • Add multiple layers of cardboard — for example, place a box inside another box.
  • Make sure bottles do not touch each other if you are sending more than one.
  • Lightweight protection materials will not add much to your shipping cost but can prevent a lot of trouble.

A well-packed bottle not only protects your item but also helps avoid disputes or insurance issues later.

Note: Attached to this article, you can find images showing a great example of how to properly pack a bottle for safe shipping.

2. Labeling the package

Print out the shipping address clearly and attach it securely to the box.
Double-check that it matches the address shown in the order details.

If you want to be extra careful, you can attach a second address label inside or on another side of the box.

3. Registered shipping

Always send your package using registered mail.

You will receive a shipping receipt from your shipping company, which serves as proof of shipment and tracking.

This receipt is essential if there are any delivery issues or claims later.

4. Shipping insurance

Packages sent by registered mail are usually insured, but always check the insurance conditions with your shipping provider.

If a package is lost or damaged and you need to file a claim, you will usually need:

  • The shipping receipt

  • A purchase or sales order receipt

  • Photos of the damaged bottle and packaging

Keep in mind:

  • If the bottle was not packed properly, the claim may be refused.

  • Insurance coverage differs between shipping companies. Some cover the purchase value, others the sales value.

  • Claims may also be refused if the bottle was sent to a country that prohibits alcohol shipments.
