You can search more precisely on Whiskybase by using numbers, codes, or other unique identifiers. These methods help you find the exact bottle you are looking for.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
- 1. Whiskybase ID
- 2. Number searches
- 3. Date searches
- 4. Barcode search
- 5. Searching with ABV
- 6. Bottle code search (older search tool)
- 7. Using the older search engine
1. Whiskybase ID
Enter a Whiskybase ID such as 282305 or WB282305 to open that exact bottle.
This is the most direct and accurate search method.
2. Number searches
Searching a number such as 2005 will show all whiskies where this number appears. It may match:
• Vintage year
• Bottled year
• Whiskybase ID
• Cask number
Because numbers appear in many fields, these searches can return a broader list.
3. Date searches
Searching a date such as 11.12.1998 finds whiskies distilled or bottled on that day.
Searching 12.1998 finds whiskies from December 1998.
Date search is currently available in the older search engine.
4. Barcode search
Enter a barcode such as 5060044489730 to view all whiskies that match it.
This is especially helpful for modern releases.
5. Searching with ABV
Adding the ABV helps you narrow down similar bottles. You can either use a coma or a point to write the ABV.
Example
| Ardbeg 10 46.0% | Ardbeg 10 46,0% |
6. Bottle code search (older search tool)
Search a bottle code such as L4273CM000 to find the exact release linked to that code.
This is useful for identifying older or limited bottles.
7. Using the older search engine
Date search and bottle code search are still available in the older search tool.
Note: These features will be moved to the new search system in the future.
