Fees for selling on the Whiskybase Marketplace

When you sell a bottle on the Whiskybase Marketplace, a small fee is charged to cover transaction costs and help maintain and improve the platform.

Whiskybase Market receives a fee between 5% and 8% of the bottle price (excluding shipping).
The total fee depends on the payment method used by the buyer.

If the payment is processed through PayPal

  • Whiskybase charges a fixed fee of 5% of the bottle price (excluding shipping).

  • PayPal charges an additional variable fee, which depends on the buyer’s country, currency, and order amount.

You can check the exact PayPal fees for your country here: PayPal Merchant Fees.

On average, the total fee is around 8%, depending on the currency and payment conditions.

If the payment is processed through Stripe

  • Whiskybase charges a fixed fee of 8% of the bottle price (excluding shipping).

  • This fee includes all transaction costs paid to Stripe and will be deducted automatically from your payout once the order is accepted by the buyer.

Why these fees exist

The Marketplace fee helps cover the costs of payment processing, hosting, support, and platform development. It also allows us to keep Whiskybase a free-to-use platform for all members.

With each sale, you help Whiskybase grow and continue connecting buyers and sellers safely.
Your bottles are visible to over 250,000 members and more than 500,000 unique monthly visitors, helping you reach a trusted and active whisky community.

In return for a small commission, Whiskybase takes care of the transaction process, provides a secure environment for both parties, and ensures the Whiskybase Marketplace continues to operate smoothly.
